Following a consultation to see if you are a suitable candidate for Plexr, when you return for the procedure numbing cream is applied to minimize any discomfort. Treatment time, including topical numbing cream, maybe 20-60 minutes depending on the treatment area. One to three treatments may be needed for each area at 6-8 week intervals. The treatment is performed with dots created by the Plexr device to sublimate (change from solid to gas) the superficial skin cells without bleeding or damage to surrounding tissue. Following treatment, the areas treated will be red with swelling. At the site of each dot, there will be a carbon crust that should not be touched except to camouflage for 7 days. You will need to keep the treated area clean, dry, and protected from sun exposure or direct sources of heat for a minimum of 30 days. You will be given creams to apply for the following week which can aid with the healing process. Unusual side effects include infection, scarring, or pigmentation changes. It is imperative to follow after-care advice to avoid such complications.
The Plexr is a handheld device that works through the process of “sublimation” (that’s the process of turning a solid into a gas) and the principle of ionization of gases that are contained in the air. These actions produce “plasma”, which is used to contract and tighten your skin’s surface. The energy that it generates is delivered directly to the superficial skin cells only, without affecting any deeper or surrounding tissues. In terms of hooded and droopy eyelids, for example, the treatment immediately reduces the excess skin on the upper or lower eyelid, as well as shrinking any excess skin in the external region around the eye. It even improves any expression lines at the corner of your eyes and cheekbones (the facial lines commonly known as crow’s feet). Note that we sometimes combine Plexr with Tear Trough Treatment for complete eye rejuvenation. This will be part of a combination plan, tailored for your goals. Unlike traditional surgery, Plexr treatments are performed without cutting, without removing excess skin or fat, and, with regards to eye treatments, without modifying the orbicular muscle of the eyelids. This keeps you safe from all risks inherent to the traditional surgical intervention.
Patients may experience some swelling and soreness in the treated area following the treatment. Any residual, tiny point-like crusts will fall off after three to seven days and can be covered with a liquid foundation in the meantime. During your no-obligation consultation, our doctor will discuss your suitability for the treatment and what you can expect. If you have had Plexr treatment for your eyes, you will also have full movement of your eyelids right after the procedure.
Depending on the nature and extent of the excess skin and area treated you may need between one and three treatments, usually four to six weeks apart. In your consultation, our doctor will assess the needs of the area and can recommend you the best-suited treatment or combination of treatments for the best possible outcome. Treatments with Plexr are permanent. However, Plexr can’t stop the aging process, meaning you may still consider subsequent treatments in the future
